Strange Graphic Problem

Hallo!I have an new information.Have done some more test and this is what i found - mabye a step to a solution:Here my steps for my test.Testflight with alway the same setting in FSX and same route (EDDF-VHHH).1. VISTA Home Premium 64BIT new installed - incl. SP1 + Updates and HW-drivers (nothing else/no other application)2. FSX inkl. ACL installed3. PMDG 747X installed (because with this plane i can reproduce my problem best)4. Testflight was well - no problem5. FS2CREW for PMDG747X installed6. Testflight was well - no problem7. FS Global 2008 inkl. SP1 installed8. Testflight was well - no problem9. UTX Europe incl. patches installed10. Testflight fails - the problem occurs11. FS Global 2008 disabled12. Testflight fails - the problem occurs13. FS Global 2008 enabled / UTX disabled14. Testflight was well - no problem15. UTX enabled16. Testflight fails - the problem occurs17. FS2CREW diabled18. Testflight was well - no problem19. FS2CREW enabled20. Testflight fails - the problem occurs21. FS2CREW disabled for further testMeenwhile i installed FSUIPC, UTX USA, Mega Airport Frankfurt, FEX, ASX, XG, FSFK3, FSPAX, NHANCERxx. All further Testflights went well - no problem (FS2CREW always disabled)So at my side it seems there is a problem with UTX and FS2CEW - but do not ask me why.My question to you, who has the same problem: Do you also have UTX and FS2CREW installed? And can you get a solution when FS2CREW is disabled?Thomas

I have UTX, but not FS2CREW., sorry Thomas...Jerome, I thought you said earlier that you had UTX and tried uninstalling it, and that it made no difference. Do you still run without it?Nothing I've tried so far, with the exception of enabling DX10 Preview, has solved the problem for me. The DX10 option is not a viable option for me, it's just too buggy. But let's keep at it, something will turn up. :(

Yep, I reinstalled FSX from scratch, , but I never reinstalled UTX, only FEX clouds and REX "everythingelse" are installed, plus Active sky, and LDS767.

I think this is a problem with Vista, and the way the drivers are designed for Vista. It has nothing to do with UTX because, some people that are having the problem don't have UTX. In the PMDG forum lots of people were reporting this problem, and they said that FSX worked when they installed Windows XP x64, and Windows 7. It seems like a driver problem, memory problem, or problem with system load. To reduce the occurrence of this problem, set FSX' priority to "Below Normal" in the task manager. I know it sounds crazy, but it helps free up the rest of the CPU for other process FSX has to do, such as avionics of PMDG aircraft, and stuff like that. I think this also might have something to do with texture sizes, because someone said he gets the problem less with FTX or REX (forgot) texture set to 1024x1024 instead of 4096x4096.Try This:

1. Hit the "Windows" key + "R"
2. Type in "taskmgr"
3. Look for "fsx.exe"
4. Right click "fsx.exe"
5. Select "Set Priority"
6. Choose "Below Normal" or "Low" (Test which one gives you less problems)

This will free up the CPU for other processes, reduce load, and may reduce the problem of glitching when there is increased load on the system. Also make sure your "TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD" entry in fsx.cfg is equal to 1024 (Open My Computer > Type "%appdata%" in the address bar (Exactly like that WITHOUT the quotations) > Go to Microsoft > Go to FSX) This is a quicker way to go to the FSX Appdata folder, without enabling hidden folders and going through so many folders. This also works no matter what drive your Windows Installation is on. E.G. C:\ ; D:\. Make sure your bufferpools entry is not too large such as 100MB, unless you have a 1GB Video card. This will put to much load on VRAM. Try a bufferpool entry of 5MB to a max of 15MB. Too much memory allocated to saving buffered textures may increase stuttering, because space is being allocated for old textures, making less space for new textures that need to be processed and rendered.

Having the same problem here. ATI 4850 with 1GB and Catalyst 9.3 drivers on XP Pro x86 (32bit).Anyone of you guys got yours fixed?

Try this:1. Uninstall Acceleration.2. Install FSX SP1.3. Run FSX and load a flight. Then exit.4. Install FSX SP2.5. You're done.I've been plagued by exactly the same problem with the PMDG 747X and MD-11X. I tried everything I could think of, from fiddling with RAM settings and bufferpools, to reformatting and reinstalling the whole thing. Finally, I tried this. So far, it has worked for me - though no guarantees! I know that there shouldn't be a difference between Acceleration and SP2 - but it seems that there is a difference. Further proof of this is that the Level-D 767X won't start up properly from cold and dark with Acceleration (you have to start the engines twice), although with SP2 it's fine. Tim

Thanks for the reply, Tim. However, my problem does involve neither aircraft from PMDG nor Acceleration. Just a pure FSX SP2 installation.

I hope what he said helps people out. Maybe instead of uninstalling Acceleration, you can uninstall FSX SP2, then install/reinstall SP1, load a flight, then install FSX SP2. :(

Could be worth a shot.Also, I'm thinking about changing the OS. This Windows installation is more for testing than serious stuff and I've got XP x64, Vista x64 and Server '08 x64 dusting away here, all of which weren't too friendly to my old 8800GTS (occasional BSODs). Maybe they like ATI more...

No luck with that reinstall procedure.Gonna test FSX SP1 later on. If the problem persists there, I'm basically screwed.

I to have just started with this problem,have latest drivers etc,ATI 4870In DX10 mode everything ok,so i think if you turn AA off in the sim you are good to go with DX9 give it a try you might be surprised...good luck

I never turn on AA in the sim! Only via tools like ATI Tray Tools or NHancer.And for some laughter in between: Some SP2 shots from me.SP1 behaves normally, at least from what I could see during a short test flight.
