Very Frustrated With FSX!

Recommended Posts

Hope it helps. I would start fresh with Nick's NHancer settings and FSX settings.A couple things I noticed that Nick covers:You may want to remove the bufferpools setting for now. This is very system specific. I havn't played with it yet.Turn off DX10Move the Mesh resolution to 10m (I think this is what was causing me problems)

Yes, it's off. I've never used it.Also I have one other issue as if i haven't asked enough already. When switching from windowed mode to full screen sometimes the screen goes black and there is no way out but to close FSX.This and all the other problems appears to be tied to graphics drivers and how windows and FSX handles them.Alex

I had that problem with my old ATI card on my old system and I think it is fairly common. I'm using the 191.7 with the OCFU card and I can switch between full screen and windowed without issue for probably the first time in 5 years. Whether that driver will work for you or not, I don't know. Even though we have the same model card, every card is different. I would also say this problem is necessarily related to the other performance issues you are having.I wouldn't mess with the drivers too much at this point since you have tried so many and got the same poor results. Once you get things running a little better then you can play with them to fix the above issue.Of course, in the end there could be something wrong with your hardware and exchanging drivers and redoing NHancer numerous time would be a waste of time anyway. Provided you system is stable (passing OCCT, memtest...) I'd go for the FSX/NHancer/Windows/O&O tuning first to see if your results are better.

Hellowhy would lowering his sound quality have any effect on his graphics problem?
I know that it sounds counter-intuitive, but I'm not making it up:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=249782Nobody knows for sure why the fix works but the consensus (I believe) is that it has to do with the way MS changed audio in Vista and Windows 7. DirectX no longer supports hardware sound acceleration in the same way as under XP and it seems that this can produce some odd side-effects with some audio drivers. Another theory is that by reducing the sound quality you reduce the amount of RAM committed by FSX. Anyway, whatever the explanation, believe me, if you've got the symptoms described in the thread mentioned above, then this fix is probably your best chance.Having said that, there are SOME "Missing texture" problems which have nothing to do with this: for example, if you find missing textures from the moment you load up the flight, then this is unlikely to be related to the same issue. But if you find textures disappearing at some stage during the flight, then there is a very good chance that this fix will work.Tim

HelloNow you mention, that I remember reading about Vista and 7 handling Audio differently.I have W7 running on another drive in this box for the wife to use, hardly touched it my self except to help her out. They are going to have to prize XP from my cold dead hands, It just flat out works like you tell it too and does not answer back(unlike the wife) :(

Just checked for updated drivers for my sound card and there is an update available. I've installed the latest and I'm setting up a flight from LPMA to Lsgg. Will report my results.Alex

I'm happy to report some initial success. After updating the drivers for my sound card, selecting the lowest sound quality, I'm able to fly from day to night without losing parts of the aircraft.I also performed a test with the aircraft(PMDG MD11) parked and switched from day to night and the VC did not disappear when the lights came on.Still can't switch from windowed mode to full screen without the screen going black but this is only when i have the pmdg 744 or md11 loaded. Still working on that one. Thanks for all the help! I very much appreciate it.Alex

I really do think this could be a solid fixJust did a short flight from NTAA-NTTB with Aerosoft Tahiti (known FPS hog) and their DHC6. HD clouds, ASA and no problems what so ever - not even with instant replay.More testing needs to be done - perhaps a flight from EGLL-KJFK with add on scenery and full ai. If it passes that, I'm hooked. At worst, this tweak did not have any side effects. My sounds are still hosed so I am hoping for someone brilliant to come up with a fix for that soon.

That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for simmers!!! We are one step closer to being able to have virtually no problems in FSX where we can do a flight without worrying about if we will be able to land!!! What is your sound problem exactly?

Here is a link to a thread about it at SF Developer. Until I saw this thread today, I thought I was the only one with this issue. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6023
