Thank you for your interest in joining the AVSIM forums and user community! We look forward to seeing you online and as an active participant in, and contributor to, the best simulation community on the Internet. Before you register however, please take a moment and carefully read the following. We regret the need to force this upon you, but in the interest of the larger community that you will join upon acceptance, it is important that you understand the rules under which this system operates.
Please also understand that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREEDOM OF SPEECH IN A PRIVATELY OWNED AND OPERATED FORUM. If you believe that you should have unfettered freedom of speech without equal responsibility for its use, then the AVSIM forums are not for you.
The AVSIM Forums Acceptable Use Policies and User Agreement
These policies are strictly enforced and you will be held responsible for abiding by them. Please read carefully. Your use of this system is explicit agreement to these terms.
AVSIM Online reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of these policies and the user agreement without prior notice to the user. It is the responsibility of the user to regularly review the terms of this agreement.
Your account must adhere to the following:
1.) Your user ID (Nickname) can be your choice, but you must provide your REAL FULL First and Last Name. Any accounts that do not have a real full first and last name provided will be removed. Note: Your username cannot be changed once you register, so please be careful when deciding on that. If you want to change your username, you will need to contact the forum admin to remove your account.
2.) Your email address SHOULD be your regular ISP based email address not one of the free anonymous mail systems, such as Hotmail and Yahoo. A password email will be emailed to the address you enter, so take care to enter it correctly.
3.) You are allowed ONLY ONE ACCOUNT. Multiple accounts will be removed.
NOTE: You can disable the email and address information in your user account once you sign up, but it must be available for AVSIM Staff in your master record. This information is NOT provided to third parties and we do all that is technically feasible to prevent spam bots from getting access to your email data.

User Conduct:
The User shall use AVSIM Online's WEB Site and System (here-in-after known as the System) for lawful purposes only. User shall not post or transmit through the System any material which violates or infringes in any way upon the rights of others, which is unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, vulgar, obscene, profane or otherwise objectionable, which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any law, or which, without AVSIM Online's express prior approval, contains advertising or any solicitation with respect to products or services except as may be allowed for within the guidelines set forth for the System. Any conduct by a User that in AVSIM Online's discretion restricts or inhibits any other User from using or enjoying the System will not be permitted. User shall not use the System to advertise or perform any commercial solicitation (except as otherwise noted), including, but not limited to, the solicitation of users to become subscribers of other on-line information services competitive with the System.
User shall not upload, post or otherwise make available on the System any material protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right without the express permission of the owner of the copyright, trademark or other proprietary right and the burden of determining that any material is not protected by copyright rests with User. User shall be solely liable for any damage resulting from any infringement of copyrights, proprietary rights, or any other harm resulting from such a submission. By submitting material to any public area of the System, User automatically grants, or warrants that the owner of such material has expressly granted AVSIM Online the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate and distribute such material (in whole or in part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media or technology now known or hereafter developed for the full term of any copyright that may exist in such material except the direct commercial sale of such material as the part of a CD or other file transfer medium is not permitted without the written permission of the holder of the copyright for said material. User also permits any other User to access, view, store or reproduce the material for that User's personal use.
AVSIM does not endorse and has no control over the content of Messages submitted by others to Forums. Messages submitted to Forums are not necessarily reviewed by AVSIM prior to posting and do not necessarily reflect the opinions or policies of AVSIM. AVSIM makes no warranties, express or implied, as to the content of the Messages in the Forums or the accuracy and reliability of any Messages and other materials in the Forums. Nonetheless, AVSIM reserves the right to prevent you from submitting Materials to Forums and to edit, restrict or remove such Messages for any reason at any time.
AVSIM assumes no responsibility for actively monitoring Forums for inappropriate Messages. If at any time AVSIM chooses, in its sole discretion, to monitor the Forums, AVSIM nonetheless assumes no responsibility for the content of the Messages, no obligation to modify or remove any inappropriate Messages, and no responsibility for the conduct of the user submitting any Message. In submitting Messages to Forums, you agree to strictly limit yourself to discussions about the subject matter for which the Forums are intended. You agree that AVSIM accepts no liability whatsoever if it determines to prevent your Messages from being submitted or if it edits, restricts or removes your Messages. You also agree to permit any other user of this Site to access, view, store or reproduce the material for that other user's personal use and not to restrict or inhibit the use of the Site by any other person.
The foregoing provisions of this Section are for the benefit of AVSIM Online, its subsidiaries, affiliates and its third party content providers and licensor and each shall have the right to assert and enforce such provisions directly or on its own behalf.
All material posted in or on AVSIM acquires an AVSIM Copyright. Material found in the forums CANNOT be reproduced, copied or otherwise used without AVSIM's specific permission to do so. Please do NOT copy message content and post elsewhere.
Finally, be advised that we have a "1 strike and you are out" policy for abusers of the AVSIM Forums. We are dedicated to providing the best possible environment for the thousands of users of this system, and we will not tolerate disruptive, abusive, or otherwise objectional behavior or material on this system. Those who breach our policies will be shown the door.
