Will The Md-11 Be The Last Sim For Fs9?

Recommended Posts

I sure hope so. IMHO its time to dump FS9 and just concentrate on FSX! Dont waste resources developing for an old platform which is losing users every day. I purchased the FSX MD11 and its great. I would never purchase any product for FS9.
And I will never purchase anything for FSX. I guess we cancel each other out then. OH and by the way, were is your research to back up your comment of "losing users every day"? I doubt you have any and are just talking out of your you know what. :(

I know where he got that info from, he read it on the Aerosoft forums.. Still, i believe the FS9 userbase will remain at a significant number until FS11 hits the shelf, maybe even further beyond that.Kind regardsJan

Have fun with FS9 then. :( Flight1 just released the Mustang for FSX only of course! :(

If Aerosoft still release FS9 scenery, it is because the user base still far larger on this platform than on FSX... If you look at IVAO network, you can count about 80/20 ratio from our last poll (over 2400 members of the network).

You can do some search (recent) of this forum and this should tell you that PMDG still plans to deliver FS9 compatible 737 NGX.
That is good to know.Michael P.

Ok I'm going to start this post with a discalimer. Maybe I'm getting old and grumpy or just tired of everything but here it goes. I am not the most religious browser of this forum but I think PMDG has made it perfectly clear that they are going to make the 737NG 2.0 (not NGX) for FSX and FS9 and then an A320. How many threads do we have to start asking what is comming next or what they should make next? The information about PMDGs future plans is here so just do a search to find it. Rant off.

That is good to know. One thing I do not understand. Why are all the FSX users so BITTER against all of us who are staying with FS9? I am not mad about them buying FSX. Why do they want the developers to drop all production on products for FS9? If they are still getting paid then I think there is still a large following of FS9 to justify making the products. FSX users are receiving and buying the products for their platform why can I not buy for my platform? Everybody knows there are more users of FS9 who are not going to switch until FS11(maybe). We do not have to aurgue over computer power or addons. Let the developers continue to make a living with whatever platform is selling. Lets live in peace FSX users.Carl P.

I usually never weigh into posts that denigrate into this is better than that. The simple fact is if you enjoy it than use what you enjoy. Just to throw into the mix I wonder how many FS8 users are still out there. I would venture a guess that there are not many. As time goes on there are just less and less FS9 users. There is no conspiracy theory here. I don't play my Nintendo I had as a kid simply because the technology is old and inferior. This is just a simple fact of technological advancement. Philosophically speaking I suppose some kind of base human nature is at work here. People build attachments to certain pursuits and hobbies. This is why one city believes it is better than another city, or one team is better than another. It is healthy to have rivalries. In this forum it is FS9 vs. FSX. What I just simply do not get is why these posts always turn into this is better than that or there are more of us than you. We are all of the same mind. We love to fly. Now back to my rum and eggnog and my 744 flight to from KJFK to LSZH. Happy holidays everyone.Mike K

Maybe because all the FS9 users tend to over-generalize?Tom :(

I must have overlooked that the NGX will be FS9 too. This is a welcome piece of news! I had to get a laptop for my studies, and as such cannot really upgrade it to FSX-crunching standard, nor can one really even source a laptop that runs FSX fantastically without selling their car and house, as well as wife into slavery.I am very happy with the way FS9 runs, and there isn't a lot that entices me to FSX really.

Alex, Do you know when Project Tupolev will release the English version?
Not sure what you mean by this. The PT TU-154M has a 261 page manual in English which I used to learn to fly the aircraft. A great challenge and great fun. Maybe the tool tips are only partly finished, but this isn't a problem for me as I don't need them.As to the OP's question, I'm not going to bother upgrading just to run FSX. Everything that I want is available in FS9 and, from my personal point of view, that's just fine. I hope that my current machine will last until FS11 is released. At this point I may consider purchasing a completely new set-up, but, what's interesting for me, is that my FS9 and it's addons (payware & freeware) seem so good to me now that I don't want to change at all.I have no problem with FSX - it's ok for 'low & slow' on my system, but is no good for anything else - I repeat - on my system. One of my best friends even runs FSX exclusively :( If developers produce products that I want for FS9, I'll buy them. If not, I won't. I will not, however, feel offended if my favourite developers make a business decision that's more beneficial to them.

The new NG will be FS9 and FSX just like the MD-11, our plans have not changed, we'll let you know if they do.
Thank you for the update regarding FS9, looking forward to see the NG 2.0 also in FS9. Jan-Paul

I guess I'm like the Chief Engineer of a sinking ship. I'm not abandoning it until its TRULY a lost cause. I will upgrade to FSX in four years after I get out of college since FS9 will suffice. With more Airbus payware (NLS A380, AS A32X/A340/A330 series), and the PMDG's coming out for FS9, and the Tu-154M possibly not going to be upgraded to FSX, there is no reason for me to switch. As long as the 2d panel is fully functional I'm happy since I never leave it 99.99 percent of the time. I may even bypass FSX for FS11 when/if it comes out. As for the cash, I'm lucky if I get $100 to upgrade on my PC so that won't be an option until I'm on my own and have a job.Alex Jevdic
I fully agree with you. FSX is simply too buggy for my tastes and there is a load of great add-ons (like Project Tupolev TU-154) that are a wonderful examples of freeware simulation engineering that deserves attention although built on a lower platform basis.

Another reason people may not be switching (even though FSX on its own is plenty of reason) is many users, myself included use XP for a OS. If we upgrade, most likely though a vendor, we will have to use Vista and that is even more horrid a software than anything else. Vista is so badly screwed up MS is going to be putting out Windows 7. Even MS CEO Steve Ballmer confirmed that Windows 7 will be an improved version of Vista. Windows 7 includes support for virtual hard disks, improved performance on multi-core processors, improved boot performance, and kernel improvements. Reports from the Milestone 1 build of Windows 7 adds support for systems using multiple heterogeneous graphics cards from different vendors. Here is a link to see how the beta version of W7 is doing benchmark-wise against Windows XP SP3, Windows 7 Build 6956, Windows Vista and Windows Vista SP1. Looks like Windows 7 is faster than all of them. So why upgrade now for the inferior Vista when you can wait a bit for W7? The RTM (Release To Manufacturing) release of Windows 7 is expected for mid 2009 with end-users being able to buy new computers with it on their machine for the Christmas 2009 season. That and the all new Intel I7 core's coming out next year that will be much better than the I7 core chips currently available make the end of 2009, beginning of 2010 as the ideal time to upgrade. Now I say all this with the thinking that more than half of us have no clue how to build a new computer on our own and buy the whole thing from a vendor. Those that just love working on a computer like its a 1968 muscle car...this does not apply :(
