[MD-11] Drooping Ailerons

Hi,If you select the drooping ailerons option, does it affect performance at all?Best regards,Robin.

From what I know of other aircraft that had similar mods, I'd guess current operators.It changes the wing loading and can help relieve stresses on some parts, and help reduce fatigue, etc..Best regards,Robin.

Deflected ailerons are there to increase lift on T/O only. I'm not sure about back in the pax day's but both the major Cargo operators using the MD11 have disabled deflected ailerons as common faults with the system where making it more of a hassle then a bonus.RegardsRob

Interesting.When I flew on a DAL MD-11 in 1997 it didn't have the mod (I had a prime window seat! Five rows aft of the trailing edge of the flap, with a gret view of the wing-tip. I won't forget that! Also had a ride on an MD-88 and 737-200 during the same trip).Best regards,Robin.
