My system is about 2 years old and can't buy a new one for a while unless I want to be divorced. I was thinking about maybe just getting a better CPU than I have now but don't know what would be an improvement.
I currently have a Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.00 GHz 1333FSB (no OC). It is on a 780i motherboard with a 775 socket. Does anyone have an idea what better CPU would work in this setup? I would like to overclock this one but everytime I think about it I chicken out because of my limited experience in these matters. Any advice would be appreciated including any "how to" info on overclocking my current system. Thanks. Jim |

Depends on your budget. Assuming proper PSU, case, and graphics card already in place, you could swap a new mobo, ram, and cpu in there and get a huge performance boost via overclocking. Or you could just o/c what you have now...
FSX SP2 on Windows 7 x64, C2Q 9550 @ 4GHz (8.5x471 @1.34V), 4GB G.SKill DDR2-8000 @ 942MHz, Gigabyte P45 UD3L motherboard, OCZ Vendetta 2 heatsink with dual 120mm fans, XFX GTX 285 @ 702/1584/2754 clocks on stock cooling & auto fan speed - displaying to Panasonic TH-42PZ80U 42" 1080P Plasma via HDMI
