After staring FS9.exe, I can see the loadscreen loading, and one sec later FS exits.

I didn't install anything new.

Running Win XP pro.

What can be the cause?

Do you get an Error message of any kind and if so what is the exact message?

It may be a corrupt fs9.CFG file; Flight Simulator re-saves it each time you use the software and sometimes things go awry. Remove yours from C:\Documents and Settings\[yourname]\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\ to a safe place and start Flight Simulator - it will create a clean one but you will lose your customised settings. If that doesn't solve the problem put the original back where it came from.

I did it, and still the same problem.

If you haven't already, you might try this to get some info on the error. Go to start / control panel / administrative tools / event viewer ...click on application and see what, if any, error is there for msfs.

Hope that helps some.

When it starts loading are you going to the default flight? Try putting in a different destination before it loads and try that. This happened to me and it was the default flight that was corrupted.

Many errors, but msfs is not one of them.

I can't reach for then opening screen. It crashes before I have the chance to change any airport.

I was trying to open the Active Sky and see how it reponds.

The AS got details and started to work and got the metar of KSEA.

As FS gets to the main screen it crashes with no error msg, just exits.

I must say that now I was uninsatlling FS9 completely, and then installed again - and still the same problem.

What it can be now?

News!

I've installed FS9 on other partition (D drive. It was before on C) and now it's working.

What can be the problem?

Due to the time lap between your two subsequent posts (7.58 PM and 8.15 PM) I assume you don't install any addon's.
Maybe some addon's are the root of your problem ?

Regards.

Gus.

I'm still in doubt because the sim worked great with all the ADD-ONS.

I don't remember what I've installed which caused for that problem.

I have no idea.

You could uninstall all the add-ons, get it back to the default setup.
Add one add-on at a time and see when the problem arrives.
Then delete that one .

I suggest you go to where your flight plans are saved ( normally C:\Documents & Settings\Your name\Application Data (you need to have "show hidden files" enabled)\Microsoft\FS9) and from the list of flight plans identify which is your normal default one, the one it starts up with, and delete it. I'm still convinced that corruption of that file is causing your problem - so go on, prove me wrong! happy.gif

Maybe a registry problem? get "ccleaner" (freeware) or run some other registry fixer. Also try Flight1, they have a "Repair FS9 Registry Path" program.
