Hi Folks,
I used to use Prop Pilot 99 and earlier versions of MS Flight Sim and then stopped for a few years, gained a pilots licence and now have around 250 hours in various aircraft with a share in a nice Robin DR400. I fancy using FSX for IFR procedures and the general fun of flying around Scotland etc. with the ability to press a 'pause' button! I'm a bit out of touch with what I need for a decent software set up to produce the best realistic mountain scenery and weather (do I also need this 'acceleration pack'?). I know there used to be hundreds of add-ons in this dept. but I don't know where to begin sorting the wheat from the chaff! I've got a pretty decent hardware spec. so that area's pretty well covered. All help gratefully received, thanks Ian |

Wellcome back to flight simming, Ian!
You don't need the Acc-pack. I would recommend you to install FSX SP1 and then SP2. Remember to start FSX after each install before installing the next SP. http://www.fsinsider.com/downloads/Pages/default.aspx IMO these add ons are excellent payware for FSX and Europe: Ultimate Terrain X Eurupe (UTX) http://www.scenerysolutions.com/index.html http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=FL1-UXE-001 Real Environment X provides nice clouds and other environment textures and have a weather engine. More info here: http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/ and here http://www.flightsimstore.com/product_info...products_id=809 The upcoming release of Ground Environment X Europe (GEX) looks very promising. Here is a very long thread with a lot of images: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=26352 This product will be distributed by Flight1 and here is the product I don't have any Scottish sceneries but other simmers might give you some advice on good sceneries. Excellent thanks looking forward to it, those links look really interesting, I'll have to google around but I think there used to also be some photo realistic scenery for the UK, plus Gary Summons used to do the UK airports - is he still the best for local airfields (UK bias here)?
