So if I wait to buy a i7-920 or even -950 then in August it will be very likely that the prices will be reduced quite a bit!

Between the 930 and 950 ..... Any advice on which i7 would overclock better?
Hi seenick, not sure but I believe they both overlock well. most people that get the 950 just get it mainly, because they dont want to overlock there chips and for some the extra cache.Just checked amazon.com and the price did indeed go down for the Intel 950! its at $308.99 now nice! price is over here in the u.s.a http://www.amazon.com/Intel-3-06GHz-LGA1366-Desktop-Processor/dp/B002A6G3V2

The 950s are binned higher than the 930s, so chances are they'll overclock at least as well. If buying online, I would go ahead and get the 950 for the higher multiplier since the price is only slightly higher now. However, if you can score a deal on the 930, I'd probably reach for that since all of them are the same basic chip with comparable overclocking capabilities. If you're in the US and live in an area with a Micro Center nearby, 930s can be had for $200 + tax (store pickup only, though).

That's a good deal. I checked Fry's this afternoon...950s at $299 and 930's a close second at $289.

Looks pretty good, although I don't think the Dominator is necessary unless you plan on overclocking your RAM, which may or may not give much of a real-world boost. Regardless, I'd suggest going to Newegg instead of Amazon, since their prices are usually better (this isn't always the case, but a quick search shows you could save about $40 just on those parts), and they run combo deals on some parts that might save you even more. Shipping is usually cheaper and faster, too.On a related note, Newegg has now dropped the 950s from $600 to $300.

Thanks Mike,The reason I went to Amazon originally is they were showing the 950 at $599 at the time of comparison... Now I know they have dropped to match there is no question...Thanks again!-Paul

For the poster with the new build parts list, check out this RAM instead of the Corsair:http://www.amazon.com/Mushkin-Enhanced-Redline-Frostbyte-998805/dp/B00368CI4Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1283366939&sr=8-1This Mushkin kit with its cas 6 smokes that Corsair kit plus its price is equivalent. I was using OCZ 1600 cas 8 and replaced it with this recently, and for FSX it did make a difference. I got my 2x2G kit OC at 1720 cas 6; it completely rips with my cpu at 3.8. I don't use a RAM fan either, I don't think one is necessary unless your case has weak airflow or you plan to uber OC the RAM.
